Today, our students in our gifted enrichment class took learning to new heights as they experimented with different airplane designs to travel to the continent of Africa! Once there, they explored the fascinating world of mountain gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. - The adventure continued as students designed and built models of observation towers that could be used to study wildlife in forests and mountains. Through hands-on exploration, creativity, and engineering, our students brought science and geography to life!

🚒🔥 Our Pre-K Students Had Some Pretty Cool Visitors Today! 🔥🚒 Our little learners had an exciting visit from Captain Jason and Firefighters Joe, Chase, and Zack! ❤️🧑‍🚒 They took time out of their busy day to teach our students all about how firefighters keep our community safe. From learning about their important jobs to discovering more about fire safety, it was a fun and educational experience for our youngest Islanders! 🧯🚒 A HUGE thank-you to Captain Jason and our amazing firefighters for spending time with us and helping our students learn about these everyday heroes. We appreciate all you do to keep our community safe! 👨‍🚒❤

📚✨ Learning Together, Growing Together! ✨📚 Ms. Ovalle’s 3rd graders have been hard at work building their nonfiction reading skills! 🦉💙 Working in pairs, students completed a nonfiction comprehension checklist, collaborating to find text evidence, using context clues to define unfamiliar vocabulary, and identifying important text features within their chapter.
